The Titans think Bo Scaife is a better option than Randy Moss.
I learned a lot from watching the Titans at the Dolphins yesterday and hope you did as well.

Since the Dolphins were the Titans' hosts on Sunday, let's start this with things we learned about them.

Contrary to popular belief, the Dolphins are capable of scoring more than two touchdowns in a game.

Anthony Fasano is the second coming of Antonio Gates. The Dolphins did an awesome job keeping him under wraps before springing him loose upon an unsuspecting Titans defense.

Tyler Thigpen is the next Dan Marino. Did you see the way he picked that defense apart?

Titans fall to Dolphins 29-17

Written by Drexel Perry on .

Thanks to a "bend-and-break "pass defense that allowed three Miami quarterbacks to combine for over 300 yards passing, the debut of Randy Moss in a Tennessee Titans' uniform was overshadowed by the team's disappointing 29-17 loss to the Dolphins.

Moss only caught one pass on the afternoon; a 26-yarder late in the game. Meanwhile, the Dolphin receiving threats, regardless of who was throwing them the football, were busy making life miserable for the Titans' pass defense as indicated by their cumulative 323-yard effort.

Up next, additional thoughts on today's Titans' loss.

Titans-Dolphins inactives, gameday thread

Written by Tom Gower on .

The inactives list for Randy Moss's first game as a Tennessee Titan is out, and includes the following names:

MIAMI DOLPHINS
S Tyrone Culver, DE Clifton Geathers, T Matt Kopa, T Lydon Murtha, CB Nate Ness, TE Mickey Shuler, QB Tyler Thigpen (#3 QB), WR Roberto Wallace

TENNESSEE TITANS
WR Kenny Britt, DT Marques Douglas, G Ryan Durand, WR Lavelle Hawkins, S Robert Johnson, T/G Troy Kropog, CB Ryan Mouton, QB Rusty Smith (#3 QB)

The big news is that while Vince Young is active, but Kerry Collins will be starting today's game.  Justin Gage returns to the lineup, but Moss and Washington will be your starters at wideout.  I think Gage gives you something different than those guys, so I'll be paying attention to how much work each of the wideouts gets and what kind of routes they run.  Comparing Damian Williams' snaps to Gage's may be an interesting exercise.

As promised, in preparation for this week's AFC showdown between the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins, Total Titans exchanged a set of questions/answers with fellow Bloguin NFL site Phins Phocus.

The questions and answers provided insight on several topics pertinent to Sunday's Titans/Dolphins clash, including recent developments such as the Titans acquiring Randy Moss and the Fins going with one Chad (Pennington) over another (Henne) at starting quarterback.

The Total Titans/Phins Phocus Q&A exchange...after the jump.

Tennessee Titans - Miami Dolphins preview

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

The Tennessee Titans, refreshed from a bye week and with new weapon Randy Moss, will visit the Miami Dolphins Sunday in an important intraconference game.

On the surface, this Dolphins team seems very ordinary and average. Look at all of the following team stats. All of them rank the Dolphins in the teens, from 12th to 17th, which is right in the middle of the pack. no comments

Tennessee Titans midseason review - defense

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

After taking a look at the offense in the first part of our midseason review of the Titans, we now turn our attention to the defense. In the review of the defense after the first four games, I noted that all three areas of the defense -- d-line, linebackers and secondary -- were playing better than expected and some major questions in those areas were answered more than satisfactorily.

Because of the personnel changes in the secondary that were made in Week Eight at San Diego, it seems like a good place to start, after the break.
