LeGarrette Blount: Smash Part II?

Written by Drexel Perry on .

In 2008, LenDale White and Chris Johnson combined to form Smash and Dash; a running back tandem that consistently wreaked havoc. With White serving as the hammer and CJ providing his world-class speed, the Titans' rushing attack often ran over and sped past the opposition.

Of course, CJ is still in town to provide the dash in the Titans' running game, but the element of smash left the building with LenDale White's offseason departure.

With White no longer around, can rookie undrafted free agent RB LeGarrette Blount follow in his footsteps by stepping up as the Titans' designated power back?

Are the Titans moving Tony Brown to DE?

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

Titans defensive tackle Tony Brown has been on the PUP list for the first four days of training camp. In tonight's practice, Brown lined up at left defensive end with the first-team defense.

Joining him on the first unit d-line were LDT Jovan Haye, RDT Sen'Derrick Marks and RDE Jacob Ford. William Hayes, the regular starter at LDE last year, was suited up, but I did not notice him in action tonight.

Brown remained at his new spot, save for the occasional rotational substitutions, throughout the evening.

2010 Tennessee Titans positional analysis: OG

Written by Tom Gower on .

We round out our look at the Titans' offensive line with a look at the offensive guards.

As was the case with the center and tackle positions, the Titans did not make any noteworthy additions at the position, so the depth chart at guard will likely be composed of some familiar faces.  Right guard Jake Scott returns for his third season with the Titans.  I didn't think he played quite as well in 2009 as he did in 2008, but he was still solid and will hopefully return to his previous level of play this season.

2010 Tennessee Titans: Five bold predictions

Written by Drexel Perry on .

With training camp finally underway, the 2010 NFL season is officially around the corner. After suffering through the seemingly eternal dog daze of the NFL offseason, it's nice to finally have the presence of some actual football lurking on the horizon.

As the Tennessee Titans prepare for the regular season, we're doing likewise at Total Titans. Whether it's roster predictions, positional analyses or training camp reports, we're headed full speed ahead in the direction of providing our valuable readers with plenty of content surrounding the team as they march towards their Week 1 battle against the Raiders.

Today, we're going to put on our speculative caps and have some fun as I reveal my list of five bold predictions for the Tennessee Titans in 2010.

Titans training camp notes and pics, Days 1-2

The 2010 edition of Titans training camp opened on a hot Saturday afternoon and I wanted to share a few pictures and observations. On Saturday, I was at the south end of the third field, behind the end zone, where the running backs do their positional work.

After the team stretched, they began working on special teams, as they usually do, with the focus on punting. There's never much to say about that, other than who's doing what. With Damian Williams on PUP, Alvin Pearman was first in line to field the punts as the "returner" and was followed shortly thereafter by Marc Mariani. Fellow rook Bobby Sewall fielded a few as well.

2010 Tennessee Titans positional analysis: DT

Written by Drexel Perry on .

With training camp getting underway yesterday, (at last) we'll continue our Tennessee Titans' positional analyses by directing our attention to the defensive side of the football.

The defensive tackle position was certainly an area that generated a lot of attention in 2009. This was mostly due to the free agency departure of Albert Haynesworth and the team's titanic task of replacing his gargantuan presence in the interior of the defensive line.

Replacing "Fat Albert" was anything but an easy task. While Tony Brown stepped up with his best season as a pro, injuries prevented the talented Jason Jones from having a huge impact. Free agent signee Jovan Haye was disappointing to say the least, as he was mostly a non-factor in '09.

Let's take a look at how the Titans should fare at the DT position in 2010.

Ttians 53-man roster prediction at the start of training camp

Written by Tom Gower on .

As we await the start of the Titans' first training camp practice at 3:30 this afternoon, I thought I'd repeat a little exercise I did last year and do my best to predict the final 53-man roster as training camp opens.  I believe I got 48 right last year, which was a little disappointing and would like to improve on that mark this year.

The roster on the official site is currently at 82 players.  With Damian Williams signing last night and Derrick Morgan probably signing by Monday at the latest (speculation), there need to be two more players to go to get down to the 80-man limit.  Hopefully I won't pick any of them...
