We continue our offseason positional analysis by turning our attention to the offensive tackles.  In contrast to the quarterback position, which is in a state of utter uncertainty, the tackles are the most stable of all the position groups on the Titans.

Michael Roos and David Stewart both received votes for the 2010 Associated Press All-Pro team.  Unlike the Pro Bowl selection process, which can be a joke, receiving consideration for the AP All-Pro team is an honor which is indicative of superior play.

Roos and Stewart are both are under contract for three more seasons.  They have decent depth behind them, so it's one position group that won't need to be addressed this offseason.  Another positive -- both players are extremely durable.  Roos hasn't missed a start in his six-year career.  Stewart has missed only one since becoming a starter in 2006.

Considering the team's situation at quarterback, the Tennessee Titans will certainly have their eyes on prospective draft-eligible signal-callers at the annual NFL Combine from February 24th- March 1st.

While the majority of the focus will be on talents such as Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert and Jake Locker; QBs who could be selected by the Titans with their 8th overall pick, Mike Munchak and Co. will also be paying attention to the likes of Colin Kaepernick, Pat Devlin and Christian Ponder; guys who could be ripe for the taking if the team decides to pass on the option of taking a QB in the first round.

With the reviews of the running back and quarterback positions already in the books, we'll proceed with our annual offseason positional analyses by examining the Tennessee Titans' state of affairs at wide receiver.

Unlike the QB position; an area that's plagued with the level of uncertainty you'd expect when you decide to release/trade your starting QB, the starting WR position is a pretty stable unit. On one side, you have your up-and-coming #1 target Kenny Britt and opposite of him is Nate Washington who, despite having an occasional case of the dropsies, is a capable deep threat who can make plays when he's able to hold onto the football.

You may have forgotten, but Randy Moss actually played for the Titans in 2010. Yeah, I know, it still seems weird to say. They grabbed him off waivers during the bye week, when they were 5-3, and then they went 1-7 the rest of the year. And of course, Moss hardly made any big plays as a Titan and failed to make any touchdown grabs, let alone spectacular ones.

When the Titans acquired Randy Moss in November, I wrote a post looking at his targets as a member of the Patriots and Vikings as a sort of preview of what we might reasonably to expect from Randy. With the 2010 season done, I thought it would be a good time to look at his targets as a Titan. no comments

QB coach Dowell Loggains and Rusty Smith

Quarterback is clearly the most uncertain position facing the Tennessee Titans this offseason.  Vince Young will be released, unless some other team is foolish enough to trade for him.  Kerry Collins and Chris Simms will both become unrestricted free agents, which leaves Rusty Smith as the only quarterback on the roster who will remain under contract.

Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt has confirmed the team plans to acquire a veteran quarterback during the offseason and will also select one in the draft.

As the NFL draft approaches, we will certainly have a lot more to write about quarterbacks who the Titans may select, but for now our focus will be on the veterans, and which one may be wearing two-tone blue this season.

It's been a whirlwind of an offseason for the Tennessee Titans.

With the departure of Jeff Fisher and the hiring of Mike Munchak, a new offensive and defensive coordinator and the inevitable release/trade of QB Vince Young, our focus as of late has been upon the sea of change that's taken place in recent weeks.

Now that the dust has settled a bit, it's time to resume our normal offseason activities at Total Titans by examining how the team stacks up at each spot. We'll begin our annual offseason positional analyses by taking a look at the running back position.

Just to get back in the flow of things after my latest mini-hiatus, I thought I'd write about Michael Griffin's interceptions in 2010.  He had four, one each in four consecutive games in October, when the Titans roared to a 5-2 start and he was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month.  We'll be starting our positional analysis series soon, and I have a longer post I've been procrastinating on for a while looking at the defensive performance as a whole, but I thought I'd just start with this.
