According to media reports, Jeff Fisher and the Tennessee Titans have mutually decided to part ways.

We'll have plenty more on this surprising development later but for now, feel free to voice your opinions about today's shocking announcement regarding the apparent divorce between Fisher and the Titans.

Continuing with our recent series of articles evaluating potential options for the Tennessee Titans as they embark upon the journey of finding their next starting quarterback, today, we'll take a look at another veteran possibility.

Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck is a 35-year old vet who's certainly paid his dues as a quality NFL starting quarterback. After struggling through the 2010 regular season, Hasselbeck was able to turn back the hands of time with an impressive postseason showing during the 7-9 Seahawks' improbable playoff run.

Hasselbeck, unlike some of the other guys we've already discussed, won't require trade compensation due to the fact that he's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. 

Yea or Nay: Should the Titans consider bringing in Hasselbeck as a potential starting QB option?

Titans quarterback Kerry Collins appeared in ten games last year, starting seven with a 2-5 record.  It may have been the last time for Collins, who has spent the last five seasons with the Titans, to wear the two-tone blue.  Collins, who is now 38 years old, will become an unrestricted free agent in March.

Will the Titans re-sign Collins, either as a veteran backup, or as a starter/caretaker until a rookie is ready to take over the starting role?

Collins played with a torn tendon in the middle finger on his passing hand since Week Seven of last season and looked absolutely awful in several games.  He was horrible in the Dolphins game, consistently overthrowing receivers by several feet.  After missing the next two games with a calf injury, he stunk up the joint in his next outing, versus the Jaguars.

Another day, another veteran quarterback who could emerge as a candidate to become the Tennessee Titans' next starting signal-caller. 

According to Chris Mortenson, veteran QB Carson Palmer, apparently distraught with the state of affairs in Cincy, will ask for a trade/release and threaten to retire if the Bengals refuse to accommodate him.

Should the Titans make a run at Palmer if he's available? In my opinion, thanks to factors such as his recent performance and injury history, the Titans should pass on this potential starting QB option.

Jim Wyatt's report that the Titans are considering Eric Mangini for their vacant defensive coordinator position naturally made me wonder.  If Mangini is hired, would the Titans change to a 3-4 defense, where Mangini's experience lies?

My first inclination is to believe it won't happen.  Jeff Fisher will be coaching to keep his job this year.  Now is not the time to make changes which usually take several years to implement.

The length of time before a successful transition to the 3-4 is complete depends in large part on the pieces you already have in place.  When the Packers made the switch in 2009, they already had the big bodies up front that a 3-4 requires, in Ryan Pickett, Johnny Jolly and Cullen Jenkins.  They also had Aaron Kampmann, who was able, sort of, to make the change from 4-3 defensive end to 3-4 outside linebacker.  The Pack had the good fortune to draft Clay Matthews as their other OLB, and they suddenly had the makings of a good front seven.

In recent articles, we've focused on options that the Tennessee Titans could have at their disposal as they continue to look for a new starting quarterback. this offseason.

Philadelphia's Kevin Kolb is a young and talented signal-caller who is yearning for an opportunity to start, but the likely price-tag associated with attaining his services isn't going to be cheap. Denver's Kyle Orton, another possibility that we discussed, is certainly an intriguing candidate that won't require the type of compensation that the Eagles desire in exchange for Kolb.

Today, we'll turn our attention to Donovan McNabb; an established veteran QB who could also be available.
