Total Titans/Phins Phocus Q&A exchange

Written by Drexel Perry on .

As promised, in preparation for this week's AFC showdown between the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins, Total Titans exchanged a set of questions/answers with fellow Bloguin NFL site Phins Phocus.

The questions and answers provided insight on several topics pertinent to Sunday's Titans/Dolphins clash, including recent developments such as the Titans acquiring Randy Moss and the Fins going with one Chad (Pennington) over another (Henne) at starting quarterback.

The Total Titans/Phins Phocus Q&A exchange...after the jump.

Tennessee Titans - Miami Dolphins preview

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

The Tennessee Titans, refreshed from a bye week and with new weapon Randy Moss, will visit the Miami Dolphins Sunday in an important intraconference game.

On the surface, this Dolphins team seems very ordinary and average. Look at all of the following team stats. All of them rank the Dolphins in the teens, from 12th to 17th, which is right in the middle of the pack. no comments

Tennessee Titans midseason review - defense

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

After taking a look at the offense in the first part of our midseason review of the Titans, we now turn our attention to the defense. In the review of the defense after the first four games, I noted that all three areas of the defense -- d-line, linebackers and secondary -- were playing better than expected and some major questions in those areas were answered more than satisfactorily.

Because of the personnel changes in the secondary that were made in Week Eight at San Diego, it seems like a good place to start, after the break.

Tennessee Titans midseason review: The rookies

Written by Drexel Perry on .

The 2010 Tennessee Titans' draft class entered their rookie seasons with some relatively high expectations.

For seemingly the first time in recent memory, the franchise selected a group of talented (and highly intelligent) players who also produced on the college level. Instead of drafting projects as they've done in the past (Chris Henry unfortunately comes to mind) Mike Reinfeldt and company reeled in numerous guys who had already demonstrated their knack for getting it done on the playing field.

At the halfway mark of the season, it's so far so good for many of the Titan rookies, with several of them doing a great job of translating their college success into gridiron production on the NFL level.

Tennessee Titans midseason review - offense

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

The Tennessee Titans won three of their four games in the second quarter of the season to bring their record to 5-3 at the midway point, good enough for first place in the AFC South. The Colts also have a 5-3 record but have two losses within the division.

I was impressed with the 3-1 record for the second quarter, as the wins were against two playoff teams from a year ago (Cowboys, Eagles) and a division rival (Jags). Never mind that the Cowboys are now a dysfunctional team, they were a dangerous opponent when the Titans faced them.

This review of the team at midseason will focus on the offense and primarily upon the second quarter of the season. In case you missed reading them last month, or if you wish to read them again, here are links for the first quarter reviews of the offense and defense. no comments

Upon further review: Randy Moss's routes

Written by Tom Gower on .

So, to get a better idea of what to expect from Randy Moss, I elected to take advantage of my subscription to the invaluable Game Rewind on NFL.com and watch every pass this year where Moss was targeted.

This isn't a full breakdown of Moss's play this year.  I didn't watch a single running play, or any play where the ball was thrown in the direction of another wide receiver.  I also can't necessarily say much about the team's overall coverage scheme; I know the Patriots were bracketing him fairly consistently with a safety over the top of a corner, but that's not always apparent from the broadcast and I didn't necessarily watch each play repeatedly.

What I saw, after the jump
