Last Sunday, the Tennessee Titans were on the wrong end of several costly mistakes that played a key role in their disappointing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Today, the Titans were able to take advantage of the miscues by the undisciplined New York Giants en route to a 29-10 victory.

Aided by the G-Men's 11 penalties, three turnovers, two missed field goals and for the icing on the cake, a safety; the Titans scored 19 unanswered second-half points to break open what was once a 10-10 contest at intermission.

Titans-Giants inactives, open thread

Written by Tom Gower on .

The list of inactives is out for today's game and includes the following:

TENNESSEE TITANS:
LB Rennie Curran, DE Jacob Ford, G Ryan Durant, WR Lavelle Hawkins, OT Mike Otto, S Robert Johnson, S Nick Schommer, QB Rusty Smith

AKA the same list we've seen the previous two weeks, with the expected exception of Hayes in and Ford out.  No changes were reported to the starting lineup, so Hayes initially will be a reserve not that the designation matters much.

NEW YORK GIANTS:
WR Ramses Barden, OT Will Beatty, LB Chase Blackburn, WR Duke Calhoun, LB Phillip Dillard, S Michael Johnson, DT Linval Joseph, C Shaun O'Hara

Blackburn was questionable coming into today's game, so he's the only mild surprise.  As expected, DE Justin Tuck, the other questionable, is playing, as are all three of the probable players including TE Kevin Boss.

Feel free to leave your comments here during today's game.

Titans-Giants injury report and impact

Written by Tom Gower on .

The final injury report is out for the Titans-Giants game Sunday, and here's who's on it.

NEW YORK GIANTS
OUT: LB Philip Dillard (hamstring), S Michael Johnson (back), T Will Beatty (foot)
DOUBTFUL: C Shaun O'Hara (ankle)
QUESTIONABLE: DE Justin Tuck (shoulder), LB Chase Blackburn (knee)
PROBABLE: TE Kevin Boss (concussion), WR Mario Manningham (illness), CB Aaron Ross (foot)

It's probably fair to assume all the probable and questionable players will play.  Tuck has vowed that he will be playing Sunday, and I'm guessing Tom Coughlin will agree.  The inexperienced Adam Koets will hopefully have his hands full replacing O'Hara at center.  Boss, Manningham, and Ross all fully participated in practice on Friday, and I'd expect them to play.

TENNESSEE TITANS
OUT: DE Jacob Ford (knee), OT Mike Otto (knee)
QUESTIONABLE: DT Tony Brown (knee)
PROBABLE: DE Jason Babin (elbow), CB Cortland Finnegan (thigh)

The safe assumption is the inactives list will look the same as it has in previous weeks with William Hayes just replacing Jacob Ford in the lineup.  Brown and Babin both fully participated in practice on Friday.  Finnegan participated in Thursday's practice, but missed Friday's for what Fisher said was a day of rest.

Ultimate NYG answers Total Titans' questions about the Giants

Written by Tom Gower on .

This week Total Titans linked up with Andy Furman of Bloguin's New York Giants Blog, Ultimate NYG, to preview Sunday's game.

Total Titans: How good exactly is Eli Manning?  I haven't seen anybody claim he's up there with Big Brother, Brees, and Brady, but how far away is he from them?  What are his strengths and weaknesses?

A tribute to Keith Bulluck

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

Keith Bulluck photograph by Andrew Strickert for Total TitansIt will be strange seeing Keith Bulluck playing against his former team, the Tennessee Titans, this Sunday. There was doubt if he'd ever play again after he tore an ACL in December so I'm glad for him he's still able to play.

Keith was, in my opinion, the best defensive player who ever wore the two-tone blue. He was certainly the most consistent. KB never had a spectacular season like Jevon Kearse or Albert Haynesworth but he had eight very good seasons after spending his first two years primarily on special teams. (Former defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham would later say it was a mistake on his part not to start Bulluck sooner.)

A first-round draft pick in 2000, Bulluck accumulated 1,058 tackles, 19 interceptions, 15 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries and 6 touchdowns for the Titans. KB earned first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection in 2003.

Coming off last weekend's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Tennessee Titans (1-1) will be in search of a bounce-back victory as they travel to Gotham City to face the New York Giants (1-1).

As I mentioned earlier this week, despite the teams only meeting once every four years, based on the trend of recent history, we should expect a closely-contested battle where the outcome is decided in the 4th quarter or beyond.

Up next...a preview of this weekend's Titans/Giants matchup.

Titans vs. Giants: Recent history/common links

Even though Sunday's disappointing loss to the Steelers and the fallout from Jeff Fisher's controversial decision to pull Vince Young is still fresh on our minds, as they say in Hollywood, "The show must go on."

Of course, feel free to continue to chime in with your thoughts on our recent articles pertaining to last weekend's Steelers/Titans debacle. In the meantime, I'll get the Week Three ball rolling as we march towards this upcoming Sunday's battle between the Titans and the G-Men.

Despite playing in different conferences and competing against one another every four years, the Titans and the Giants have some interesting links between them.
