Titans-Raiders injury report and impact

Written by Tom Gower on .

The final injury report is out for this Sunday's game against the Raiders, and here's what it looks like:

OAKLAND RAIDERS
OUT: LB Travis Goethel (back), CB Walter McFadden (hamstring), WR Chaz Schillens (knee)
QUESTIONABLE: DT Desmond Bryant (elbow), RB Michael Bush (thumb)

Both Bryant and Bush participated in Friday's practice on a limited basis.  Bush may wear a brace to protect his hand, but even with a brace he may have trouble holding on to the football.  His absence would likely mean a bigger load for Darren McFadden.

TENNESSEE TITANS
OUT: T Mike Otto (knee)
QUESTIONABLE: DT Tony Brown (knee), DE William Hayes (knee), LB Colin Allred (ankle)
PROBABLE: G Leroy Harris (ankle), DE Jacob Ford (back), WR Justin Gage (hand)

Brown and Hayes did not participate in Friday's practice, while Allred, Harris, Ford, and Gage all fully participated in practice.  If you want shorthand as to who's most likely to play, I think that's a pretty good guideline.  Harris was upgraded from questionable to probable while I was writing this post, so I'd expect him to start.  His status may have been the reason Ryan Durand made the team.  If Hayes truly can't go, Jason Babin is listed behind him on the depth chart and may get the start, while Sen'Derrick Marks may start next to Jason Jones at DT for Brown.

Will Witherspoon will play despite missing practice this week after the death of his mother.  All of us here at Total Titans send our condolences to Will on his loss and will be rooting for him to do well on Sunday.

Total Titans exchanges questions with a Raiders writer

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

This will be the fifth or sixth season Total Titans will be doing question and answer exchanges with someone who writes about the Titans' opponent of the week. It's a fun exercise, and one that's often informative.

Several days ago, I asked what you'd like to know about the Raiders, the first opponent for the Titans this year. Thanks go to our readers who submitted questions and to Patrick Patterson, the founder of Thoughts from the Dark Side, for answering them.

First are our questions for Patrick, after the break.

The Titans will go 8-8*, and other eve of season thoughts

Written by Tom Gower on .

*-Unless they don't.

This is my third straight year doing some sort of preseason prediction for the Titans.  Back in 2008, I wrote a post on the eve of the season about why the Titans wouldn't win 10 games.  It took me five whole games to say that prediction was wrong, and the Titans ended up finishing 13-3.  Heedful of the lesson, I didn't write a similar post last season, but did pick the Titans to finish over 9 wins, while noting my thoughts on how the Titans would finish had ranged from a repeat of 13-3 down to 7-9.  With an 8-8 finish, wrong again.  I'm already on record as expecting the Titans to finish under this year's 8.5 line, but by a relatively narrow margin.

The two biggest variables for the 2010 Titans season are two things I've written about on here this offseason: the continued development of Vince Young as an NFL passer, and how good the defense will be.  The problem is, I'm not sure I have a much better handle on how those questions will be answered than I did when the Titans walked off Qwest Field in Seattle to close the 2009 season.

Thoughts on the latest Albert Haynesworth returning to the Titans rumor

Written by Drexel Perry on .

You've probably heard by now that there's yet another rumor regarding a potential reunion between Albert Haynesworth and the Tennessee Titans.

Of course, we've discussed this possibility before, due to the acrimonious relationship between "Fat Albert" and the Redskins' new sheriff in town: Mike Shanahan, and the seemingly inevitable ending of their stormy relationship.

Should the Titans pull the trigger on a deal that would bring Haynesworth back to Nashville?

Titans fans, what are your questions about the Raiders?

Written by Andrew Strickert on .

It's that time of year again, and as we've been doing for five years on Total Titans, we'll invite a writer from the other side to participate with us in a question and answer exchange.

This week, we've invited Patrick Patterson, the founder and head honcho of Thoughts from the Dark Side, the Oakland Raiders site here on Bloguin. I've known Patrick since 2005, when we were both with the old Most Valuable Network, MVN.com.

Titans fans, what questions do you have for Patrick about the Raiders and this week's game? Please leave them in the comments below and I'll send the best ones to him tomorrow evening.

Scanning the cut lists: Five players who could help the Titans

Written by Drexel Perry on .

Yesterday marked the announcement of the Tennessee Titans' 53-man roster.

Of course, the roster could be anything but set in stone, due to the slew of available players who were jettisoned by their former ballclubs on Saturday.

I'm no Mike Reinfeldt, but here's a short list of a few guys who, in my opinion, would make sense if the Titans are interested in potentially turning another team's trash into their own treasures.
